CLASS INSTRUCTOR

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHY PORTLAND?
I arrived in PDX by way of my Midwest roots; my hometown of Columbia, Missouri, and several years living in Chicago.
The awesomeness of PDX bike culture, amazing access to live music, and the awe-inspiring geography and landscape solidified my decision to settle here in early 2006.

WHAT MAKES YOUR CLASS SO AWESOME?
As an instructor I choose to reflect your strength, resilience, and capacity for thriving. I will meet you where you are as well as encourage you to challenge yourself.

WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
I bring warmth, curiosity, and an upbeat energy to my teaching style. I believe in the power of sound and laughter as a healthy release.

WHAT'S THAT EXTRA SPECIAL SAUCE YOU POUR ON ALL OF YOUR CLASSES!?
I design my classes to energize and explore feeling good in our bodies. Connection, belonging, dignity, and acceptance are my cornerstones.

WHAT QUOTE IS MOST LIKELY TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH DURING A CLASS?
You will likely hear me encourage you to send some love to the area of the body we just worked or to wrap the movement in Pilates. I might also send you on the Magic School Bus through your mind-body awareness.

IS THERE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT GOT YOU INTO FITNESS?
GUSH ABOUT IT PLEASE!
I was a HUGE Jane Fonda fan when I was young. The Jane Fonda empire really inspired my love for fitness outside of sports. As a teenager, I did her workouts at home until I found a dance studio offering teenage-aerobics. In my early-20’s I fell in love with kickboxing. My late-20’s dialed up my love for Pilates, and my 30’s were spent blissfully cycling 10-plus miles a day.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT FITNESSING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
Outside of fitness, I build my resilience by taking care of my flowers, yard, and plants. I love to find the water and a beautiful hike. Most often, I’m appreciating and enjoying art, music, friends, family, and my two hairless cats.

WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, WHAT'S ONE THING YOU SAY TO YOURSELF TO GET YOU GOING?
If life throws a grab, I access my resilience, acknowledge what I am feeling and needing, and remind myself that everything is in a constant state of regeneration and transformation; nothing is permanent. Life’s lack of permanence is exactly why I choose to move my body everyday.
