CLASS INSTRUCTOR

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I am from Corpus Christi Texas, studied in Los Angeles, and now reside in Portland Oregon. I've pretty much always been "weird" and now I feel like I've found my tribe in Portland.

WHAT MAKES YOUR CLASS SO AWESOME?

I've toured the world as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher and I designed FLEX as a conduit to empower a diverse demographic of minds and bodies! FLEX is inclusive, inspiring, and informative.

WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?

My philosophy is to teach by example. I inspire my students to feel freedom by channeling freedom within and around myself. I want my class to feel joyous so express joy! I want my classes to feel thoughtful and balanced, so I invest time preparing my class for a variety of students. I see myself in my students and hope that I can offer many opportunities for them to see themselves in me.

WHAT QUOTE IS MOST LIKELY TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH DURING A CLASS?

"This is where it counts!" "Let's show up and show out!"

IS THERE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT GOT YOU INTO FITNESS? GUSH ABOUT IT PLEASE!

I have been an athlete since I was 6 years old. Highly competitive sports my entire childhood. Junior Olympic Qualifier in Track. District champion winner in Football . BA in dance. 15+ teaching movement education (dance + fitness).

I've practically never NOT been an athlete so health and fitness is simply part of who I am. It's become part of my identity and lifestyle.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT FITNESSING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?

I teach dance and creative arts to all ages and work as a freelance performer / choreographer.

WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, WHAT'S ONE THING YOU SAY TO YOURSELF TO GET YOU GOING?

When I'm feeling down, I remind myself that it's okay. I am allowed to have a bad day or to even feel sad for no apparent reason. That is part of being human. I give myself the permission to be imperfect and to retreat to self-care until I am feeling better.
