WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I’m originally from Chicago, and also lived much of my life in a small town in Southern IL. I’ve always loved nature and the city, and dreamed of living near mossy forests and waterfalls as a child. Portland always called to me, and in 2015 I answered.
WHAT MAKES YOUR CLASS SO AWESOME?
Perhaps a balanced approach to the practice…the pace…awareness of alignment…a mix of stability and flow.
WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
I teach many styles of yoga, and have been influenced by my studies and certifications over the years in Vinyasa, Acro Yoga, Yoga Therapeutics, Anusara Yoga, Restorative Yoga, etc. I also am a musician and sound healing practitioner.
WHAT QUOTE IS MOST LIKELY TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH DURING A CLASS?
Soften your heart.
WHAT'S THAT EXTRA SPECIAL SAUCE YOU POUR ON ALL OF YOUR CLASSES?
I’ll sing to you at the end! (In Savasana)
IS THERE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT GOT YOU INTO FITNESS? GUSH ABOUT IT PLEASE!
I grew up with a love for dance and movement, and learning meditation and mantra. I started teaching yoga when I was 18. It was something that already felt like a part of me from my upbringing, and also something that deeply helped me move through my life and deal with past trauma with more ease and grace.
WHEN YOU'RE NOT FITNESSING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
I’m making music, hiking in nature (sometimes with packs of dogs), traveling, holding retreats in magical places, making music videos, soaking in hot springs, swimming in rivers, cooking delicious and healthy food, connecting with my loved ones.
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, WHAT'S ONE THING YOU SAY TO YOURSELF TO GET YOU GOING?
Trust in the magic. You’re going to be ok. What is meant for you cannot miss you.
