WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHY PORTLAND?
I'm from the Washington, DC area. I started coming to visit Portland in 2009 and loved it so much I decided to move here myself! For me, you can't beat Portland's amazing access to nature combined with its incredible incredible restaurants.
WHAT MAKES YOUR CLASS SO AWESOME?
In my class, I aim to give students the tools to tailor their practice to meet their individual needs, moment to moment. That way, no matter how you're feeling or what you're experiencing that day, you'll hopefully leave my class feeling more balanced.
WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
My teaching style is flexible, not rigid (I give you the framework and lots of options, and then you explore what works best for you). My style is (hopefully) fun—please laugh at my jokes—while emphasizing the ways in which the physical yoga practice connects to other layers of our being.
& WHAT'S THAT EXTRA SPECIAL SAUCE YOU POUR ON ALL OF YOUR CLASSES!?
I'm passionate about sharing yoga teachings beyond asana, so my class will almost always include pranayama, meditation, and/or yoga Nidra :)
WHAT QUOTE IS MOST LIKELY TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH DURING A CLASS?
"notice whatever there is to notice"
IS THERE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT GOT YOU INTO FITNESS? GUSH ABOUT IT PLEASE!
I've loved movement my whole life! I started dancing ballet/tap/jazz at age four and haven't stopped. In college, I began to explore yoga as a new way of moving my body, but as I discovered the richness of yoga beyond the physical realm I was inspired to delve deeper.
WHEN YOU'RE NOT FITNESSING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
Backpacking around the PNW, and cooking!
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, WHAT'S ONE THING YOU SAY TO YOURSELF TO GET YOU GOING?
It's okay to feel down. Let the feelings be there. Feel them fully. It will move through.
