WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHY PORTLAND?
I was born and raised in the twin cities of Minnesota. I originally moved to Portland in high school and later spent time in Chicago and back in Minnesota before returning to settle in Portland in 2003. Why? My Dad and my sister.
WHAT MAKES YOUR CLASS SO AWESOME?
I'd like to ask the students that! I approach my classes with a real sense of community building and cheerleading. I like to "do together" rather than tell others what to do. I also strongly encourage talking and mostly laughing in classes as I can rest assured that everyone is breathing!
WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
LOL, I don't know! Morgan style? I place a lot of value on form and quality of movement. I want students to feel empowered to both use modifications and try things they may be intimidated by. There is always a way!
& WHAT'S THAT EXTRA SPECIAL SAUCE YOU POUR ON ALL OF YOUR CLASSES!?
Humor, creativity and adaptability.
WHAT QUOTE IS MOST LIKELY TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH DURING A CLASS?
"I lied, one more!"
IS THERE A SPECIFIC MOMENT THAT GOT YOU INTO FITNESS? GUSH ABOUT IT PLEASE!
I don't know that it's a specific moment persay, but after studying dance through college with dreams of being a professional dancer I realized I was turned off by the competitive nature of the field and I found that teaching Pilates gave me the opportunity to be creative in exercise choreography and help people tap into their own grace and flow. As I continued to grow in the field I found myself motivated by the countless ways we can add to our skill set as an instructor. I am currently very much obsessed with the nervous system and how we can re-train ourselves to manage reactions and triggers in our own bodies.
WHEN YOU'RE NOT FITNESSING, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
Spending time with my family, skiing, I love horseback riding, cooking, and sometimes sewing!
WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, WHAT'S ONE THING YOU SAY TO YOURSELF TO GET YOU GOING?
It is what it is. Keep on breathing.
