A holistic view of wellness includes good nutrition, mental health, and consistent exercise. In my professional practice, I weave all of these elements together to assist my clients in achieving optimal health and wellness. A healthy diet is an integral part of your path to wellness, and improving quality of life. My belief that food is medicine and my desire to help others find optimal health, led me to pursue an education in holisitc nutrition. I have completed a certification program under the Holistic Nutrition Credentialing Board (HNCB). Optimal health is about finding balance and giving the body the nourishments it needs to thrive. I assist my clients in finding that balance with a wellness program that includes an individualized nutrition plan. Nutrition counseling can help resolve a variety of health issues including skin disorders, digestive concerns, hormonal imbalances, and chronic fatigue. When I was 23 years old I discovered my passion for martial arts. This passion led me to achieve my first degree black belt in Taekwondo, and to compete in several amateur kickboxing matches. My passion for martial arts was taking its toll on my body, and this led me to yoga. Yoga proved to be the perfect compliment to my life path, the yin to my yang. Driven to take yoga to the next level, I traveled to India to complete a 200 hour teacher training course in Ashtanga yoga. Having the opportunity to completely immerse myself in the spiritual and physical yoga teachings was a priceless experience. I came to see how yoga can assist anyone of any age, physical ability, or circumstance. Yoga can help everyone heal, strengthen, and find peace. In my classes I aim to challenge my students. Sometimes that challenge is physical. Sometimes the challenge lies in finding the ability to remain still, allowing for time to rest and recuperate. In all of my yoga classes there is a strong focus on alignment and safety. I encourage each student to practice to their individual level, and guide them to find it.
My experience in martial arts has taken me through intense training sessions when preparing for competitions and exams. Pushing my body further than I ever thought possible with the help of my teachers was a very rewarding experience for me. This experience made me realize that we are all capable of more than we think we are. This love of fitness and desire to motivate others led me to become a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA). I take all of my experience and knowledge into each personalized training session, always encouraging my clients to achieve their goals and even surpass them.
